ok fine, i'm in!

i could always use a little extra good ju ju, so i'm participating in swistle's pay it forward contest. i'm honestly not EXACTLY sure (hi, skimmer here) what the rules are supposed to be, but whatever.

here's the set-up:
  • i have a new front door.
  • i do not like the color it is currently painted.
  • for your reference: said door.

here's what you do:

  • decide what color YOU think we should paint the door.
  • let me know in the comments.
  • i'll randomly choose a comment (HOWEVER I WANT TO) and send you a prize!!!!
  • ETA: deadline for submitting guesses (comment so becky doesn't win by DEFAULT!) is friday, july 18 at 4pm eastern, suckers).

easy peasy, right?! ok, then, COMMENT AWAY!!

side note: happy birthday, tom!!! xoxo

I'll say it again - burgundy! And since mine is the only comment, I'm OBVIOUSLY the winnah!

Or you could paint it the same shade of teal as your prom dress. That would be sweet.

WHATEVER, LADY IN RED.

TOTALLY burgundy slash deep red. TOTALLY.

I think white to match your trim and gargage doors. I'm not good at this decorating thing, however!
Thanks for having a contest. I found you from Swistle's site.

I would say either a dark red or wine color.

A deep warm green. Do greens come in deep warms?

Red- any shade.

Red is my favorite front door color. It looks good with any house color and is good feng shui. It support positive chi, which should certainly help your ju ju. Right?

Damn, I always want to say red, but I don't think it will work with your house's shade of gray.

So either paint your house another color so a red door will work or...maybe paint the door white. I can't envision another color working, and the white will look sharp with your trim. Maybe you could then put a big-ass door knocker on the door or something. Yeah.

RED! got to be red.

Red, always red. I am a big fan of red front doors. Also, I am now giving becky a run for her money. Also, I am having a PIF contest as well, which everyone who reads this should enter too @ www.cr00kedletter.livejournal.com. Bring it.

Purple definitely.

How about the plum color that matches the butterfly bush (?) in the front yard?

I saw dark green.

deep chocolate brown

Hi, I just came over from Swistles site and while I have not joined any of these PIF's yet I just had to do this one. I know the perfect color for your door, it's by Benjamin Moore and it's called Newburyport Blue. If you go to the Personal Color Viewer on their site you can put in the main house and trim colors and see how all the colors would look together on an actual house.

Woot! You guys are TERRIFIC! Keep 'em comin!!!

Totally unoriginal, but I'm going to say white. Like others I say it will great with the trim and garage doors.

I say red. Deep red.

Yet another vote for a red, though I'd go with a deep brick color.

I have NO idea what sort of color scheme you ha veIN your house... but since everyone already said my first choice - wine... I'll go the total OPPORTIST end of the spectrum and say lime green.

Love your template by the way!

I say hi-gloss black paint

stephanie said...

does it matter what the color scheme inside is? i'm not being sarcastic, i'm totally serious. i hadn't even considered that!? i'm sensing a RED THEME HERE, PEOPLE!

Chraycee said...

Black gloss would be stunning, but Navy would be fun too.

If you're the burgundy/red type you could do that and it would be great. Really your body and trim combo leaves the door wide open for a fun front door color!

Dark blue, dark red or black will work. I would find out what color your grey is (warm- red undertones or cool-blue undertones) then find a complementing color. I don't think what the inside is painted like matters, but what your style is does. Ex. A black door would look great if you have a minimalist decor, but red would make it pop if you have a more modern decor.

White. Or sea blue. Or maybe even deep teal green.

Oh crap, this isn't helping at all, is it? I never realized my indecisiveness ran to front door colors, as well......

red. absolutely red.

Paint the entire house white
Add shutters, paint them black
Paint the door black
Plant some pretty flowers out front

stephanie said...

alice, we def. plan on painting the house in a few years, but i'm not sure i'm feeling shutters on a contemporary. which stinks, because i LOVE shutters. :(

flowers are also coming to a front yard near you in spring 2009!

Anonymous said...

good point on the shutters.

oh... and i've been cyber stalking you (i'm scary) ever since our mutual freind brett sent your blog my way.

but really, i'm not thaaaaaat scary.

i just hope i win the prize!!

stephanie said...

I saw a dark green with a little bit of blue in it.

Secret Mom Thoughts said...

I say blue. I paint everything blue though.

While I'm typically a fan of red doors, I would actually say to strip the paint off the door and stain the wood. It is wood, right?

It would tie in nicely with all the greenery and your walkway.
